We are pleased to announce the establishment of “DMO Osaka Umeda” on October 31, 2023 (Tuesday), where businesses in the Osaka Umeda area have come together to collaborate on attracting and supporting MICE※1 events in the same area.

The Osaka Umeda area has seen ongoing development projects, becoming a hub for offices and commercial activities representing the Kansai region. Particularly in recent years, with the emergence of new offices, commercial facilities, convention centers, luxury hotels such as Grand Front Osaka and JP Tower Osaka, along with the opening of JR Osaka Station (Umeda area), access to the airport has significantly improved. Furthermore, with upcoming events such as the Osaka-Kansai Expo and Osaka Integrated Resort (IR), we anticipate welcoming even more visitors from both domestic and international locations, further enhancing the attractiveness of the city.

In response to these trends, and with the aim of leveraging the diverse urban functions concentrated in the Osaka Umeda area to enhance economic effects, “DMO Osaka Umeda” was established.

“DMO Osaka Umeda” currently consists of 34 affiliated facilities and organizations related to hotels, commercial facilities, and halls (as of the establishment date). With the support of Osaka City and the Osaka Tourism Bureau, we aim to provide one-stop support services※3 to event organizers considering hosting MICE events in the Osaka Umeda area. Additionally, we will coordinate to ensure that participants of hosted MICE events are welcomed and accommodated throughout the entire area. Through these efforts, we hope to contribute to the enhancement of the brand value of Osaka Umeda area as an international exchange hub.

※1) MICE: An acronym representing Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions/Events, encompassing various business events.
※2) DMO: An abbreviation for Destination Management Organization, referring to organizations familiar with regional tourism resources and involved in destination management.
※3) One-stop support services: Providing comprehensive information on multiple facilities including meetings, accommodations, dining, and entertainment.
※4) Coordination not limited to individual hotels or conference facilities, but also includes the combination of multiple facilities for hosting MICE events and proposing receptions utilizing public spaces.
