Presentation at the Kansai Economic Federation's Urban Creation, Tourism and Culture Committee Seminar - July 29, 2024 (Monday)

On July 29, 2024, Mr. Kondo, a secretary general of DMO Osaka Umeda, took the stage at the Kansai Economic Federation’s Urban Creation, Tourism and Culture Committee Seminar held at Mengyo Kaikan hall in Osaka City. This seminar, organized by the Kansai Economic Federation, focused on “The Development of Kansai MICE Leveraging the Upcoming Expo.” The aim was to utilize the opportunity presented by the Expo to highlight Kansai’s strengths, address challenges, and evolve into a world-class MICE destination.
The seminar began with speeches by Mr. Inoue, Director General, Secretariat of the Headquarters for the World Expo 2025, Cabinet Secretariat, who had previously spoken at a DMO networking event and Mr. Takeuchi, President of Congress Corporation. Following these speeches, a panel discussion was held, featuring Mr. Teramoto from the Agency for Cultural Affairs, Mr. Tanaka, Director of MICE Policy from the Osaka Tourism Bureau, and Mr. Kondo from DMO Osaka Umeda.
The panelists discussed initiatives from their respective organizations, including the “Agency for Cultural Affairs MICUSRAT (Music Loves Art)” project(※1), in which the DMO played a collaborative role. The panelists then engaged in a lively discussion about the challenges and expectations of attracting MICE events to Kansai, emphasizing the need for an all-inclusive approach. DMO Osaka Umeda expressed its commitment to further collaboration with other regions and municipalities in Kansai, as well as with DMOs nationwide.
