For three days starting on December 2, the “ISPIM Connects Osaka” conference took place at KANDAI Me RISE on the Umeda Campus of Kansai University, attracting 365 participants (including 171 from 37 countries worldwide) to the Umeda area.

In organizing this conference, DMO Osaka Umeda provided support through various means, including introducing potential venues, offering accommodation assistance (special rates for participants and reservation site provisions), arranging bento lunches during the event (serving a variety such as vegetarian bento and makunouchi bento each day), and organizing social tours.

One of the highlights was the “Umeda Innovation Tour,” where attendees visited innovation-related facilities in the Umekita area. They explored the Osaka Innovation Hub, Knowledge Capital, both opened in 2013, and JAM BASE located in GRAND GREEN OSAKA, which just opened in September 2024. Due to the strong alignment of the conference theme, “Innovation,” with the strengths of the Umeda area and the interests of participants, the tour exceeded capacity and was a great success.

Additionally, for the first time, the DMO offered services beyond venue introductions, such as facilitating accommodation and lunch arrangements for participants. We will continue to leverage the strengths of the DMO, which collaborates among diverse members, to expand and enhance these initiatives and support.

ISPIM CONNECTS is a series of conferences aimed at the global innovation management community, providing a platform for sharing knowledge and experiences related to innovation management. Approximately 200 to 300 participants, including researchers, industry managers, entrepreneurs, consultants, and policymakers, are expected to attend from both domestic and international backgrounds. The conference has been held in Europe, the United States and Canada, and Asia and Oceania, with Fukuoka being the first venue in Japan (2018), and Osaka serving as the second location.
